A right good laugh for a right good cause: Football fans give back with ‘A Wee Kick Aboot’

The Comedy Spot, aka Young’s Comedy Club is a one-of-a-kind stand-up comedy experience tailored specifically for Scottish football fans.

They host club-by-club comedy nights for two of Scotland's most passionate fanbases: Celtic and Rangers as ‘The Celtic Comedy Spot’ or ‘The Rangers Comedy Spot’ depending on event.

They aim to use their events to bring together fans of each club for a night of laughter, with comedians who not only entertain but are also die-hard supporters themselves.

They share witty insights and jokes about rival clubs, VAR, and general football humour—ensuring the crowd is laughing and relating to every punchline.

In addition to the comedy, each event features a live DJ spinning tunes (not traditional club songs thankfully!) to keep the atmosphere buzzing. The events also include a raffle and auction with high-end club memorabilia, with all proceeds going towards a very special cause: owner Jamielee Young’s "A Wee Kick Aboot" training program for kids.

"A Wee Kick Aboot" is described as the heart and soul of the comedy club—an initiative that offers free, one-on-one football coaching to kids in poverty who show promise in the sport.

These young players receive four free coaching sessions with a dedicated coach and it is all funded from the raffle and auction proceeds generated.

They also collect donations of football boots, shin guards, and goalie gloves, which are distributed as part of a welcome package for the kids in the program.

These essential pieces of gear ensure that the children have everything they need to train and pursue their love for football.

The events are designed to bring fans together in a fun, joyous, not too serious way.

The comedy nights have previously sold out iconic venues such as The Thornton Suite within Ibrox and Graces- a popular Celtic boozer, which speaks to the strong demand and appeal of the events.

The unique combination of football comedy and the training program has proven to be a winning formula, and there’s tremendous excitement around each show.

Fans not only get to enjoy a night of laughs but also contribute to an incredibly meaningful cause that’s helping to change the lives of young aspiring footballers.

Every ticket sold, every raffle ticket bought and every donation made helps fund free coaching sessions and provides essential equipment to children in the program. It’s a night of laughs that also makes a real difference in the lives of young people.

By joining in for a night of comedy, fans are making a tangible impact on the lives of kids who need it most—and getting the chance to take home exclusive club memorabilia.

It’s fun, it’s a night to remember, and most importantly, it’s meaningful.

Jamielee wants to stress that her company’s comedy nights are not about sectarianism.

Instead, they are about enjoying a night of comedy with fellow fans while supporting a cause that’s close to everybody's hearts.

In her eyes, it is all about having a good time, sharing laughs, and coming together for the community.

She said: “Our shows are about uniting fans in a positive environment. We want everyone to leave with a smile on their face and knowing they've contributed to something bigger—helping kids who truly need it.

“Seeing the smiles on the faces of the kids we help through the program is what keeps us going, It’s an incredibly rewarding feeling to know that every laugh at our events is making a tangible difference in the life of a child.”
