The free Steam game, SCP: Secret Laboratory, has announced a new update for the end of November.

SCP: Secret Laboratory is a first-person shooter that takes place in the SCP universe. The SCP Foundation have a hidden facility deep within their ranks where anomalies also called ‘SCP’ are kept secure.

Until a containment break causes them to escape their containment to which re-containment agents are sent to secure them. Class-D are prisoners or test subjects who are also kept within the facility. They must escape the facility without being caught or killed by the re-containment agents or SCP’s.

What are some of the things we could expect to see?

Developers have said: “This is one of our biggest updates of the game.”

We can expect to see things like resolving major issues with the map. The update will include Northwood introducing a heavy containment zone of the game and they plan to do similar things to other zones such as the surface zone and light containment zone.

Maribel Haggerty, level designer and promotional media specialist for Northwood Studios, said: “With heavy containment zone being reworked, there were some rooms we were unable to fit in the update

“The rooms that couldn’t fit include SCP – 096's containment chamber and the server room which have been removed due to issues with geometry causing rubber banding.”

However, Haggerty also said: “Those two rooms are going to be reworked and put in the game in a reworked state.” So not all hope is lost for the rooms.

There are also talks of an even bigger update in the future of SCP: Secret Laboratory possibly as soon as next year. With the games ‘lore’ speaking about two other zones which we have yet to see in the actual game, what could lie ahead?

Haggerty said: “There is opportunity to introduce a new zone to the game.”

All in all, SCP: Secret Laboratory’s heavy duty update will be an improvement for the game and based off Patreon reviews of the new update players are enjoying this so far.
